옥달 두 멤버가 곡을 쓰고 박세진이 노랫말을 붙인 '희한한 시대'는 그녀가 우연히 다시 읽게 된 소설 '난장이가 쏘아올린 작은 공'이 모티브가 되어 탄생한 곡이다. 많은 이들이 눈, 귀, 입을 닫은 채 사랑에 정복당할 시간도 없이 살아가는 시대의 각박한 단면을 묘사하는 냉소 어린 노랫말이 아이러닉하게도 옥달 특유의 산뜻하고 밝은 멜로디를 타고 흐른다. 특히 곡 중반에 흐르는 행진곡 풍의 경쾌한 간주는 이러한 아이러니의 절정이라 할 만하다. 이 미묘한 갭이 일종의 '블랙코미디'처럼 느껴지지만 치유의 아이콘인 그녀들답게 희망의 여지를 넌지시 남기는 것도 잊지 않고 있는, 옥달 특유의 따스함은 여전히 간직하고 있는 곡이다.
